My final piece for my Art exam, which I spent 15 hours on. It's all been painted in Watercolours, on a A3 piece of watercolour paper. (which is the smallest exam piece in the A2 exams, eveyone else was bringing in boards and canvases the size of cars)
This is a fairly poorly taken photo of it, but I can't take it home and scan it. (plus it's too large for my A4 paper size-only scanner) Plus all the colours have been dulled, which is fucking annoying after spending 15 HOURS! painting it.
The piece of me at the top pondering my personal heritage, with my Great-Grandad below in black and white with his face covered to signify the fact he is a mysterious figure. (I never met him) Whilst my Gran (looking like a Japanese lady, lol) and Grandad are in the pint glass, signifying the next generation. How quintessentially British...
Thanks very much. Not really aiming for Noir mind, the reason the figure on the right is dressed so, is because it's derived from a photo of my Great-Grandad in the 1920's or 1930's. I was more thinking Post-Punk minimalism [link] to be honest, when I was making this. The large spaces between the figures, I like the accidental tension it gives the painting. (then I overdid it a bit by adding trashy arty farty wods to fill in the gaps, making it seem like a; Tate installation = shit)

Oh I see now!!! I guess at first glance, I thought that the large figure with the trench coat had his face covered as if there is a darker secret to be unfolded. Now that you tell m that it was your great grandfather, then it totally takes on a different meaning.
It's about how our personal history slowly disappears into time, as each generation passes, and that only the brightest people who shine will be remebered. [link] Quite pessimistic really. The "Brymbo Steel" on the wall refers to the Steelworks he and my Grandad were Chairmen of.
But anyway thanks for being the first to comment on this.

This is a really interesting idea for an art piece. The depiction of the glass and the texture of your great grandfather's coat are wonderfully rendered. What I also like is how you chose to make your great granddad so mysterious. The black silohuette of his head really draws your eye to him, which I think is cool because this piece is mainly about him. The shadowy profile, along with the monochrome colors, make him seem distant and out of place compared to the bright colors of you and your parents.

Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.
In this article I will provide you some ideas how you can build your own homestudio for considerably cheaper price than it would cost to use "official" studio gear. I will also show you few examples where I have used the gear I describe during this article.
DeviantArt is full of extremely well produced artistic fashion and fine art photographs. Make up. Styling. Creation of scenery. Story. Light. Glamour. A combination of these expressions sometimes make up a great photograph. But the protagonists of these pictures are usually female.
So... now it's the time for male models to come into focus.
